Sad to say

Due to everything that's going on currently with my relocation and a number of other things I'm sorry to say that I wont be able to open up for a bash this Sunday the 12th of sept.

I was hoping to maybe try and get one more drive in this weekend but I simply don't have the time.

It's been a great few months getting this little club almost up and running and we'd started to get a few regular drivers. I am sorry to be going and will miss the Sunday sessions.

Thanks to everyone that popped down and had fun.

Jason.

29th.. no Westhill racing

Sorry for the lack of updates and the short notice of this, life has been interesting recently due to many factors.

This Sunday the 29th will not be a Westhill bash day, I believe it's a Stonehaven round though but check first just in case. I wont be able to make it as I have lots to do over the weekend.

Also I will add at this time that I am in the near future moving to Cambridge. This has happened all very fast and I do apologise for that so I'm not sure what will happen to the WORCC..I will still be up in Westhill once ever couple of months so will maybe set some dates later. But all will have to be flexible.

Sunday!

Was a fantastic day of driving...got the Master Smacker much better set after some suggestions from Phil and ran the Macnum Beetle thing I'm making.

Dan turned up for a few hours and took his Cougar for a spin, leaving most of his tires on the floor...

We did some timed laps also, some proper racing almost. I did a 17 lap run over 3 mins and had a a fastest lap of 9.57 seconds. Dan ran an incredible 23 lap with a fastest time of 7.75 but Phil won the 'event' by driving an amazing 25 lap run over 3 mins with a fastest lap of only 7.55!!

Later in the afternoon my Brother came down for some bashing..and that's what he got....some more damaged to his shell LOL...soon the whole thing is going to be just tape.

Was a great day..

Sunday 1st Aug

Racing is on!!...well...bashing around is anyway. I might be trying out a new build during the course of the day.. something I've been creating over the last couple of weeks :)

Anyway... 12 - 4 pm as usual feel free to pop along for a run around.

Stonehaven Round

Was a good Day Sunday...I ended up driving Phil's X factory B4 conversion and had great fun driving it..Thanks Phil!!

12 Drivers turned up to race and we had some guest appearances by Dan's new Schuy Cougar and a fantastic looking new Tamiya TRF201 owned by Dom. Both cars looked and raced fantastically and I got some half decent vid footage of it :)

My driving has improved form the last time...I ended up have several new personal bests and increased my lap count from 15 laps last time to 17!

The down only point was the continuing probs with Darren's Durango, which once again just stopped during the first heat...I think you might find it for sale today on Ebay...the other down point.

Great day.. Dan won with Dom a close second.

Sunday 18th...

No driving this Sunday...due to lots of other commitments and possibly some work needing done in the SHQ's kitchen we'll have no racing on the 18th... hope this does not disappoint to much...

The weekend after that is a round at Stonehaven I think so will possible be racing there to make up for it.

Sunday 4th Racing

Was an outstanding day today, rained so did not try outside but great fun was had by all I think. Phil joined in today and had his B44 flying around the hall...leaving some of his tires on the floor :P

Used a new track design today...added more sections for a tighter more technical track.

We had 4 cars screaming around for a while and it really was excellent fun, Iain and I also broke out the Truggy's for a thrash while other batteries were charging, they really are great fun to drive but have the turning circle of a super tanker.

No major damage today, I broke the top of a shock cap and my Bro cracked his new shell.

Did learn some good stuff, mainly that 19-21 turn brushed or brushless equivalent will probably be a requirement for driving in the Hall...any more then that starts leaving rubber everywhere :), small price to pay for some good fun.

18th July for next bash... Weekend after that (25th) is another outdoor round at Stonehaven :)

Sand Rat Part 1

I have another little blog that focuses on pure bashing around and building RC buggies. I'm doing a small project for the URC forums that I'm documenting on my Buggy Bash blog.

The first project I'm calling the Sand Rat, it's a Baja VW Beetle conversion of the Ansmann Macnum. I've finished the first build post so thought I'd share that here.

Sunday 4th July

I've arranged to have the back area's grass cut over the last few days for the oppertunity to do some outside, grass bashing around...however the weather does not look to be in our favour so a normal indoor session will be more likely :)

We'll see though.

Should be a few people there with at least 6 cars driving in 2 heats throughout the afternoon..awesome!

Stonehaven

What a great day...12 racers turned up and the weather was fantastic, the midgies were a bit harsh but we tried to ignore them and a great day of racing was had by all I think.

A new Schumacher CAT SX2 was tearing up the track, which was quite impressive to see.

I had a great time racing and as it was my first real try at driving the X-Pro on grass in a competition I think I did very well...each round I added a Lap so by the B final I was doing 16-17 laps, I was actually 2nd for a couple of laps till I lost my cool and crashed out to which Den took the advantage with his awesome Losi XXX-4 and laped me.

Dan was the overall winner once again but close behind him was James driving the new CAT SX2

I did finish last but a Lot was learned and the car is now a lot better set up and tuned for the next race thanks to a lot of advice from Phil and Den. I still need to sort out some better tires as on the fastrax studs I was using were making me suffer HUGE grip roll.

I was one of only two 2WD cars, the other being a very cool B4...So I'm very happy with how I did :D

Video's will be uploaded to the Youtube channel soon.

After racing on grass for the first time I am contemplating opening up the grass area behind the SHQ to have a go on that...need to cut the grass though :)

Sunday 20th

Another reminder that this coming Sunday...will be at Stonehaven for the next round of the SDRCC off road season :)

6th June...

Was a good day Sunday... Drove the new Truggy (Royal Flash) in anger for the first time, had to do a bit of a re-build as the steering was off, but once I got that fixed it was great fun to drive...It stuck to the vinyl floor very well and took the ramp with ease. It's flight abilities are excellent and I could control it very well in the air.

The Royal Flash is a great starter Truggy...it's grip and handling make it an ideal choice for new drivers. I'm going to get one for the club to complement the Master Smacker when funds permit.

Half way through Sunday we changed the direction of the track...usually we run counter clockwise but we turned the ramps around and drove clockwise...what a change...my mind for a while could not get used to it and I was all over the track, but soon we were fling around. My bro once again broke his lower from suspension arm, it was still the same part he broke the other week, the araldite just was not a good enough fix, I have plenty of spares now so we stopped driving a while, charged the batteries, had a coffee and fixed his car.

I'm aiming to proved as many spares as possible for Ansmann cars as a track side club service. They don't break often but it's nice to know you hopefully can fix it there and then :)

A quick heads up...

The club will not be open 20th June... it's the SDRCC Offroad round 4 at the Stonehaven race track. So will be there to have a good days racing :).

I have tried were possible not to clash with events like this but it will happen from time to time. What I would love to do in the future if this happens is to make a club 'day out' of it and go down to take part in the event :)

I'll post again closer to the 20th June to remind anyone interested again.

Awesome day!

This past Sunday was excellent... my Buddy and his family came to visit the club and have a drive around.

We were testing the new club Ansmann Master Smacker and boy did it get a good testing...it was driven for hours and took some knocks but came out all fit and well at the end of the day.

Was fantastic fun watching the kids race around and get better and better as they drove... Matthew (12) was doing very well by the end of the day and landing some good jumps and was even power sliding!.. his little sister Jody was doing very well too, especially over the jump.

A good day was had by all...

I'm so impressed with the Smacker that I'm going to get another for the club..and I've also just ordered a Royal Flash (based on the Smacker) for myself....going to hop it up with new shocks, monster truck/rock crawling style wheels and a new Proline stadium truck body shell....

General Update

This coming Sunday (May 23rd) will be a simple track design again with a single ramp to start with. Might alter it later to have the split ramp and bottle neck design, have not managed to pick up the last couple of Hoses needed for more complex tracks but should have these for next meeting.

Hopefully will have a couple of new drivers popping down for a try and I might even have the first Club Car available... an Ansmann master Smacker 4x4!! The very same car at the top of the page...

It's still going to be mainly practice laps and just running around for fun till I sort out lap counting. Have almost got the software figured out so can hold races soon and hopefully will be able to carpet part of the hall to allow different surfaces to race on and provide grip for the more technical sections of future track designs.

In the next few meets racing can start properly. I'm hoping to start some form of club championship in August that will run over the autumn and winter months.

I'm still considering changing to a monthly format but currently I'm sticking to every 2 weeks as listed on the lower right of the blog. The advantage of the 2 week schedule is the possibility of running a different class ever second meeting...I really would love to support 1:18th scale off roading as well as 1:10 and holding the different classes on alternate weeks could be great fun.

Great Work Dan!!

"Much-More UK team driver, Dan Rowlands, TQ's and wins the first 4WD off road Scottish regional event at Stonehaven using a Kyosho ZX5-FS powered by Much-More UK supplied 4200mah, 30C LiPo saddle packs which were charged with a Muchmore Hybrid charger and pushed along by his Team Wave 6.5 motor!! Dan was the only driver to get into 13 seconds for a single lap and also beat the entire field by over 1 lap."

I'll be there on the next round... :)

Round 1 of the Scottish Championships

This Sunday the 16th of May is the first round of the Scottish 1/10th offroad championships and it's being held in Stonehaven...

I'll be popping down but might not be able to race due to others things I must do that day :(

Will be a great day!

First drive day!!

Okay..so it was just me, my Bro and the track...almost complete track. But it was good fun and 4 hours past very quickly.

We had a casualty though. My Bro's Master Smacker took a couple of full on hits onto his front right suspension and he ended up bending the pins and snapping the lower arm. Should be an easy fix though for next time.

I am however considering a change to the schedule and making this a monthly thing rather then every two weeks. Considering it can take up to 14 days to get some spares I'd rather people be able to drive in stead of fretting over weather they will get spares in time for next race :)

I'll keep everyone informed about this. For now though next race will still be May 23rd

This Weekend..

It's the second round of the SDRCC offroad season this Sunday and I'm hoping to take the new LRP S10 out for a blast... if you have the day free and want to get some hours driving in you should pop down to the track, come and be spectator if you don't race yet :D

It's a great day/afternoon out.

Slight delay..

Due to some recent developments I'm going to postpone the first day for 2 weeks.

The main reason for this is I want to make sure all the carpets and track markers from the Union Square GP make it to the new home at GRCC and as these are needed to be moved on the 25th I'm going to delay the Westhill club for a couple of weeks :)

Gives me some more time to get some minor details sorted as well.

Hopefully no one is to put out by this slight change.

First Day will now be May 9th :D Bring on the Summer!!

Thanks.

Jason.

Still on track...

Things are still looking good for first day driving on the 25th of April.

We have track markers and track layout markers all ready to go. Ramps and obstacles are in production.

I've driven in the hall a few times now with a couple of cars and it's a tight space but it's fun :)

Opening 2010...

Still in the planning stage...info soon.
